ยท One paragraph description of/narrative about the work
- 'Sitemap' is an exploration of 3 concepts I'm very interested in... memory palaces, virtual worlds and the evolution of the internet. A memory palace is a mentally constructed architecture or location which has been used since ancient times as a mnemonic device for the recollection of intentionally embedded information. A sitemap is typically used in web-based information architecture to enable a more thorough exploration of a website's content by search engines. Virtual worlds are increasingly being used as social, interactive and collaboratively built spaces within which we may share aspects of ourselves and our information/ideas with others. 3 I'm inspired by visions of what seems likely to emerge from the melding of these tools and the implications for learning and memory in time. Within layers of clear resin I've mapped out an external memory palace with locations for placing information or images I would like to recall. It may be used as an armature for a theoretically infinite number of different exercises.
