You can join the Artists File easily with a new dynamic interface. Go to the JOIN page (www.afonline.artistsspace.org/join.php) and fill out the information on this page, and an email will be sent to you automatically with your password. You can now log-in to your page and upload images and information. After you have uploaded AT LEAST 2 images of your work, a staff member will briefly review your portfolio and post your page online usually in 7 days (please allow up to 14 days). After your account has been activated, you may update and access your portfolio page at your convenience.

To join the new Artists File Online you must have an active email address (this will be your username), and post a minimum of 2 images to the Artists File database. Your portfolio page may include up to 12 images of your artwork. Image files should be JPG format with 72 resolution and a MINIMUM of 350 x 450 pixels for best results. (Large images may take longer to upload) The online database will automatically re-size your images to fit the parameters, and will keep the aspect ratio, so you need not worry much about the size as long it is at least the above size. Very large files may take longer to upload, so it is best to keep them under 1MB in size.

The new web interface allows you to make changes to your artists file online and at your convenience. Just log in and go to the ‘Artist’ section where you will be able to make changes. Please remember to update your artists file with any address, email, or phone number changes. **It is particularly important to keep your email address current as this is how interested curators will get in touch with you.**

  • RESUME beginning with contact information (including e-mail address, web site and fax): exhibitions, education, degrees, employment history, art-related skills, awards and grants.

• STATEMENT (if you are willing to volunteer – e.g. help install exhibitions, assist with mailings, phone work, design promotional literature, etc. on an as-needed basis); enumerate your skills.

• ARTIST’S STATEMENT focusing on short and long-term aesthetic objectives

• PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS such as reviews (within the last five years), invitations, catalogs, etc.

• CD - 20 digital images in jpeg format. All images should be not more than 800 pixels on both directions. These 20 images will be viewed onsite at the NURTUREart Gallery and Curator's Resource Center. Each image should be labeled with your name, title, medium, size (inches; vertical first) and date of creation; at the bottom of each image. All images should be cropped so that there is no background, unless it is an installation or a 3d image.

• ONE SLIDE SHEET - 20 slides. Please send only the most recent and available work; each slide must be labeled with your name, title, medium, size (inches; vertical first) and date of creation; indicate top w/ arrow. (NOTE: A “slide list”/ inventory sheet may not be substituted for individually labeled slides!) Please print/type.

Or you can substitute the 20 slides with:

• 4 PRINTS - 8.5" X 11" prints or digital printouts. All prints should be labeled with your name, title, medium, size (inches; vertical first) and date of creation; indicate top w/ arrow. Labeling must be legible. Please print or type.

For inclusion on the online gallery: •3 JPEGS - Included in the cd, select 3 jpegs to be shown on the online gallery. These 3 JPEGS should be 72 dpi and not more than 400 pixels on both directions. Each image should be labeled with your name, title, medium, size (inches; vertical first) and date of creation; at the bottom of each image. All images should be cropped so that there is no background, unless it is an installation or a 3d image.
